Some operators have access to third party databases such as Q88, which supplies vessel particulars details in a .xml file format. Before attempting to upload these files you will need to convert them to a .ocimf file.
To do this you will need to import the .xml file to the OCIMF Particulars Offline Editor and export the particulars as a .ocimf file before uploading to SIRE.
Open the particulars editor and click on the "Import Documents" button:
Then select the .xml file you wish to import and click on open:
The import process will then begin:
Once complete you should see this notification:
Once imported the file will appear in the documents list within the editor:
Double click the report in the documents list to open it. The report will then open with a menu bar at the top of the screen. Click on the "Export" button:
Then click "Save" to save the file to a convenient location:
Once saved login to SIRE as usual and import the file to the relevant vessel record.
It is best to follow the process outlined above to ensure the data can be exported without any errors. Always avoid simply renaming the file extension from .xml to .ocimf as this can lead to file corruption and can become unstable.
