It is normal practice for operators to arrange the transfer of vessels themselves. In the first instance, you will need to contact the previous operator and request that they disassociate the vessel from their fleet. Once they confirm that they have completed this, you will then be able to add the vessel record to your account. In order to add the vessel to your OVID account, login as usual and click on the vessels button:
Next, click on the “create vessel” button:
At the next screen you are then prompted for the Vessels IMO number or registration number:
You can also enter an additional identifier on the same page (this is optional), to do this choose the registry type and enter the relevant registration number:
On the Create Vessel page, enter the name and IMO number only then click on the “Create Vessel” button at the bottom of the page:
You will then see a notification at the top of the screen advising you that a vessel with the same details already and exists and asks you is you would like to take ownership. Click on the Link to accept this:
Finally you are taken to a confirmation screen. To confirm ownership choose “Yes” from the drop down field and click on the “Take Ownership” button below:
The vessel will then appear in your vessel list, it is fully associated with your organisations account. The vessel history including any inspections that have taken place in the previous 12 months and the last completed vessel particulars will also be available to view.
