A useful feature of the OCIMF OVPQ2 Editor is the ability to “Clone” an existing particulars document. You can take an existing completed document for a vessel, download and import it to the editor then change the vessel name and identifier but retain all other data. Once the document has been created you can then make changes as required without having to complete a whole new particulars document and save valuable time.
To do this, download an existing OVPQ2 document for a similar vessel from the OVID website and import it to the Particulars Editor. Once imported the document will appear in the documents list:
Click on the document to open it. In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on the “Clone” Button:
You should then see the clone window open. Choose the correct vessel type and enter the name and chose the identifier you wish to add (such as IMO number or Reg number) of the vessel you wish to create a new document, then click on the “Clone Document” button:
Once completed a confirmation message will appear:
Click on OK and then click on the new document in the documents list to open it. You can then make any changes to the document as required, export it and upload it to the appropriate vessel record within OVID.
Please note that using the cloning facility in the editor is the best method for copying particulars data to another vessel record. It is not possible to open a .ocimf file downloaded from an OVID vessel record and then edit it in a text editor. This will cause the file to become corrupted. When uploading this will fail and generate error messages.
