A new feature of the latest version of the SIRE editor is the ability to synchronise data.
The idea behind this is to make your data more easily available, making inspection data available to you as an inspector in more places. You can create an inspection and save it online using the sync button that is provided in the editor. This then uploads a copy of your data to the OCIMF data servers for use when required.
Access your inspections from another computer wherever you are
This could be useful if for example you find that you are without your usual computer that has the editor software installed, and you need to update an inspection urgently. As long as you have synchronised an inspection you can either go to the online editor on any computer that has an internet connection via a web browser, or login to your SIRE account and download the editor software, login and access your inspection data to make a change. The online editor is available at the following location: https://editor.ocimf.org/sviq-editor8/
When you look at your editor document list, alongside each document that is listed you will see an icon that shows the current status of each document:
Report on Device – this shows that the report hasn’t been synced and is available from within the editor only.
Synced Report – This report is on the device within the editor and it has been successfully synced to the server and is available to be retrieved from either the desktop or online editor.
Server Version – This version of the report is available to be downloaded to the device. It is available on the server but not currently in the editor.
Conflict – This report has not been uploaded to the server. There is a conflict that must be resolved before the user can continue to edit the report.
Audit – This report is not allowed to be synced to the server. An Audit must be carried out upon the desktop editor.
If a report has the "Report On Device" icon it means it is still only available on the current computer you are using. If you wish to complete the inspection on another computer ensure you synchronise it first.
Before attempting to sync, please ensure that your computer is online with a working internet connection. You editor software now has an indicator in the bottom left hand corner that will show a green light:
If the green light is on your editor has detected a valid connection.
If the indicator has no green light showing such as this:
Check your connection and ensure it is active before continuing.
The quickest way to sync is to click on the "I" icon next to the document in your document list:
You will then see the "sync" button, click on this to synchronise that particular report.
Please also bear in mind that as long as there is an internet connection your editor software should synchronise automatically – The report will sync as soon as it has been created and the variants have been selected. It also syncs once the report is closed, this is so that any changes made will be uploaded to the server version of the report and keep the server data up to date with any changes you have made.
You can also sync all inspections in your data list at once by clicking the sync button that is found at the top of the document list:
