Overview
Once a SIRE 2.0 inspection has been accepted by the member, the ability to cancel the inspection is no longer available to you as the operator. Instead, you raise a cancellation request from the accepted inspection details page. The member and the assigned inspector (if any) are notified by email, and the inspection only ends once the request is actioned.
This article explains how to raise, view and withdraw a cancellation request for an accepted SIRE inspection.
Before you start
Please note: only one cancellation request can be created per inspection at any time. If you have already raised a request, you must withdraw it before you can create a new one.
You will need:
- Operator access to the SIRE portal
- The reference of the accepted inspection you want to cancel
- A reason for the cancellation, ready to select from the list
Step 1 - Open the accepted inspection
Log in to the SIRE Operator portal and open the inspection you want to cancel from your inspections list. Confirm that the inspection status is Accepted before continuing.
Step 2 - Click the "Request Cancellation" button
On the inspection details page, scroll down then click the red "Request Cancellation" button. This opens the cancellation request page, in which you can select the reason for requesting a cancellation.
Step 3 - Select a reason and submit the request
Choose the most accurate reason from the list and click "Confirm" to send the cancellation request. The reason you select is included in the notification email sent to the member, so pick the option that best reflects why the inspection can no longer go ahead.
What happens after you submit the request
Once the request has been created, an email is sent automatically to:
- The member, informing them that the operator has requested a cancellation along with the reasons selected
- The inspector, if one has been assigned to the inspection
You can view this request from the inspection details page at any time.
Withdrawing a cancellation request
If circumstances change before the request is actioned, you can withdraw the request from the inspection details page. Once withdrawn, the member, the inspector and the operator each receive an email confirming the withdrawal, and the inspection continues as normal.
Reminder: only one cancellation request can exist at a time. If you withdraw a request, you can raise a new one later if needed.
